Automated Workpiece Magazine

Overview

The magazine is designed to automate the robotic loading and unloading process for a lathe.

The device is equipped with five shelves for placing blanks and finished products. Each shelf has a load capacity of 120 kg. The shelves can be positioned in three modes: manual loading/unloading, storage, and robotic loading/unloading.

Challenges and Solutions

  • The high capacity of the magazine reduces loading operations to just once per shift.

  • The combination of rigid shelves and interchangeable trays enables handling a wide range of parts.

  • The use of a pneumatic drive with a locking mechanism in the central position simplified the design and reduced manufacturing costs.
