Overview
The robotic system is designed to replace manual labor in a hazardous section of the dry building mixtures packing process.
The robotic system is designed to replace manual labor in a hazardous section of the dry building mixtures packing process. Continuous feeding of empty bags, bag filling, and transfer to the palletizing area with preliminary bag shaping are carried out.
The system consists of the following components:
A stack magazine for empty bags. The magazine is loaded without stopping the operation of the system.
A device for single bag feeding for gripping.
A gripper for empty bags.
A device for rolling filled bags.
A cabinet for the robot controller and the control system with a dual-circuit cooling system.
A system for retracting the robot, allowing manual packing during maintenance or in case of unplanned stops.
My Role
Almost all work related to the project implementation was carried out, excluding electrical assembly and programming.
As a Project Engineer:
Development of the automation concept.
As a Design Engineer:
Development of all special equipment and custom components for the system.
As a Mechanical Assembler and Installer:
Assembly of all mechanical units of the system and mechanical installation at the customer's site.
Challenges and Solutions
All designed components were developed with consideration for operation in a highly dusty environment.
A detailed, specially tailored maintenance procedure was established through experimentation, preventing stoppages and premature wear of components.
